  • Enrollment (ADM) number discussion--Pre-Snapshot day

In a few weeks, schools will be turning in snapshot day numbers and quite a few schools will be making the jump to 6A and 5A. 6A had 245 schools in the classification. 5A actually had 252 and that number may grow a bit to accommodate the new 5A Division I and Division II split.

What schools will be playing in 6A immediately in 2018 and what are the new schools that will have varsity football programs?

I can think of Alvin Shadow Creek? San Antonio Harlan is open and ready to play in 2018. San Antonio (Judson ISD) Veterans Memorial should be up an running but I don't know when they start football. Cypress Bridgeland and Park will be playing in 2018. Pflugerville Weiss already has a team but wont begin varsity until 2020 according to this article:

    http://preps.blog.statesman.com/2016...tball-program/

What other schools need to be added on the docket? Also what schools do you think will be moving up or down the 6A-4A ranks?

I'm curious to find out what Amarillo Tascosa's numbers will be and considering they were well over 100 off the 6A cutoff, I don't see them dropping down.

Here are the 30 lowest enrolled rank schools in 6A (excluding Houston Strake Jesuit--they staying in 6A anyway)

A few schools might make the jump from 4A to 5A (Abilene Wylie rumored to be one) but I'm curious to what schools will drop from 6A to 5A. What schools on the top 30 in 5A will make the jump to 6A? To be honest with you I'm not sure if any of those schools will go up to 6A. I haven't been keeping up with some of the state's growth. What do y'all think and what schools do you think are going to jump up or drop down in realignment?

According to Prosper ISD 2016 Annual Report (http://sww.prosper-isd.net/Page/3370), Prosper High School is now at 2532, so they will definitely be moving up to 6A.

There's Fulshear High School (Lamar Consolidated) is already open. Played a renegade schedule in 2016 and will do so in 2017 as well. Will be in UIL for 2018.

        LCISD list current enrollments as:
        2646 - George Ranch
        2039 - BF Terry
        2029 - Foster
        1667 - Lamar Consolidated
        733 - Fulshear
Not sure when those number were compiled.

CFISD wants their schools to be all 6A so look for the 2 new schools to opt up.
Katy ISD will not opt up Paetow. They are likely to open 5A.

Klein Cain high school opened this fall. Not sure if they will be 6A or 5A.

Also, the 6A number has been expanded to 250 (plus opt ups). So the top 5 5A schools last time around would have been 6A under this change.

Weiss having 3 years of sub-varsity seems extreme.

I'm curious if Weiss will have enough of an effect on Pflugerville to have them drop to 5A. They're primarily drawing from Hendrickson, I believe. Pflugerville was at 2,086 last Fall.

Austin High is expected to jump back up to 6A according to their principal. 2,145 last Fall.

Manor may drop back to 5A. Their New Tech HS, whose numbers have put Manor over the 6A cutoff, wants to have their own sports. That means they won't count toward Manor HS, who is barely above the cutoff. Manor last Fall was at 1,826. If you add the Excel Academy (1,883). New Tech was at 391.

Leander Glenn should be varsity next year and likely be in 5A.

Liberty Hill should jump to 5A. That area is growing like crazy. They were at 1,104 last Fall. They should add a few more to that this Fall.

Will the effects of Harvey cause C.E. King to drop down to 5A?

San Angelo Lake View is supposedly right around 1,100 so they could possibly move down to 4A.

Hays HS could be pushing 3,000 this year if they keep growing at their current pace. Last Fall...

I would think that CE King will be borderline 6A/5A.

maybe this has been answered before, but why is there a huge difference in the enrollments at Lake View and Central considering that they are both in the same ISD. I know in East Texas, Longview and Texarkana have multiple schools in the cities with huge difference in enrollments, but they are also under different school districts.

Are you able to get Nacogdoches and Texas High too. I always thought it was weird how Texas High went from like 1400 kids in 2004 to over 1900 in 2011, then suddenly the growth stopped. Did some major company leave?

So the situation may be more like your East Texas examples than you think. Unlike other districts with multiple schools, it wasn't a case of there being one school then at some point the district opened another school. Central and Lake View used to be in different districts until I think the 70's when the LV school district was absorbed into SAISD. Seems they kept things as they were outside of Lake View joining SAISD.
